Body Movement Offerings
Body Movement and
Self Massage Instruction Services
My private yoga training is based on the Yoga Tune Up ® model and integrates fundamental teachings from Hatha Yoga, Pilates, Hanna Somatics, weight training, joint mobilization and Feldenkrais to best serve the individual needs of each client or student.
What does this mean for you? I use tools from Yoga Tune Up® and The Melt Method® to guide you through exercises you can then do at home, work or even on the go. This enhances and prolongs the benefits of your instruction or bodywork time with me while giving you the opportunity to become more aware of your body throughout your daily life.
Yoga Tune Up® (YTU)
Certified Yoga Tune Up® Instructor
Practice: Within the YTU® practice we “train” and we “treat” the body. We train by practicing movements and corrective exercises rooted in yoga asana and kinesiology. We “treat” the body by guiding students to perform self massage with therapeutic tools like therapy balls and foam rollers. A regular YTU® practice teaches you to build stability in your body from the inside out. Self exploration with movements and self massage empower practitioners to “map” or “embody” their body’s own internal landscape to help keep it balanced and functioning on a daily basis. Within YTU® I am free to incorporate principles of yoga, pilates, Feldenkrais, weight lifting and other disciplines.
Benefits: In short, the practice of YTU® is a highly variable practice that is sustainable for the life of the body. It is strength building, invigorating and calming to the body and mind. With a regular practice YTU® allows you to develop a personal oasis of self care methods to soothe body and mind.
The Roll Model Method®
Certified Roll Model Method® Instructor
Practice: The Roll Model Method is a self care practice that utilizes the potent self healing power within our human body. The Roll Model Method teaches practitioners to use therapy balls, novel movements and breathing strategies to consciously integrate your body’s systems together in a holistic manner.
Benefits: This conscious movement seeks to improve the quality of how you live, feel and use your body on a daily basis. The Roll Model Method is designed for all people to discover and recover areas of high tension, overuse or habitual movement patterns.
The Roll Model Method is based on the book The Roll Model, by Jill Miller.
The Melt Method®
Practice: The Melt Method® is a simple self care treatment utilizing focused breath work, specific body movements, foam roller and therapy ball massage to train and empower students with tools that balance their nervous system and connective tissue system of the body.
Benefits: I find that The Melt Method® works great as a supplement to prepare the body for deeper more focused bodywork or exercise. The Melt Method is also very gentle and complements healing of the body when someone is in the early stages of recovery from trauma.
Skillful Athletic Recovery
Are you an athlete in training for a big event or just need to fortify your daily routine, WOD or training session with a recovery based practice? This work may be just what you need.
Practice: A Yoga Tune Up® practice is filled with creative and skillful exploratory pathways into down regulation of your body’s nervous system for a productive recovery. Meditation, Breathing dynamics, focused slow movement, massage - all of these tools with careful application create a cascade of down regulation to your nervous system.
Benefits: Your body is primed and ready to enter into a profound state of healing where your tissues, joints and all body systems reset and reignite their full potential.
Massage Offerings
Myofascial Release & Lymphatic Drainage
Practice: hands on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body and some light joint mobilization. The work intentionally targets releasing tension and freeing the fascial tissues of the body for more ease and freedom of movement. Myofascial release can be extremely relaxing. The pressure may be very light or It may be deep. The client always has control and agency in how and where pressure is applied.
Benefits: Myofascial release and lymph drainage helps the body recover from muscle tension and pain by allowing the tissues to relax, drain excess fluids and reset the nervous system.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST)
Practice: CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the craniosacral system. This is a physiological body system comprised of the soft tissue membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. A CST session is performed on a massage table with the recipient fully clothed in loose fitting attire.
Benefits: The foundation of the CST approach is that we acknowledge the body’s ability for self healing. A CST treatment seeks to establish health and balance in the body by optimizing the internal soft tissue conditions for productive recovery.
Ohashiatsu
Practice:A method of healing movement where the recipient enjoys a “moving massage” as the therapist explores passive movements, joint range of motion, myofascial elasticity and meridian energetic flow. An Ohashiatsu session is performed on the floor with the recipient fully clothed in loose fitting attire.
Benefits: Ohashiatsu technique releases restrictions and barriers within the body’s tissue and is deeply calming to the brain and nervous system.
Fascia Facial Treatment
Practice: A treatment designed to ease tension in the face by focusing our work in the jaw, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and respiratory diaphragm. During a facial treatment the client’s body is on a massage table and is fully draped by sheets and blankets. The client may choose to wear loose fitting attire if they desire for their treatment.
Benefits: This massage treatment encourages collagen production so your skin improves from the inside out. We focus beneath the skin layer, to improve circulation, drain puffiness and help soften the facial muscles for a non surgical "face - lift". Experience first hand how a softened visage radiates peace and beauty from within.
